How to use it
Your first 15 minutes
Step 1 is The Pay and Retention Field Guide, file 6. Work down from there, and by step 4 you read the Summary tab.
Skim the Field Guide, starting with the one idea on page 2. Fifteen minutes, and a raise stops competing against zero and starts competing against what turnover already costs.
Open the Workbook and replace the amber starter figures on the Calculator with your rate, your wage, and your payroll provider’s load figure. Your margin per billed hour computes as you type.
Start the Wage Comparison Log this week: every posting, applicant quote, and exit-named rate goes in. Five rows in, you have a local median to set pay against.
Before any pay decision, read the Summary tab, run the raise blocks, and use the words in Scripts & Templates: the raise, the counter-offer, or the honest not-now.
