Getting your files open
Every product is a digital download that arrives as a ZIP file. This page covers the whole path, from checkout to open documents.
Support
Nothing here requires an account, because the download link belongs to your order rather than to a password you have to remember.
If you get stuck at any step, email support with the name on the order and we will deliver the documents another way.
From checkout to open files
- Find the link
Two places carry the same link: the confirmation screen immediately after payment, and your email receipt. Search your inbox for truestephr, including the promotions and spam folders.
- Save the ZIP
Click the link and let the file finish saving completely before you open it, because an interrupted download looks exactly like a corrupted document.
- Extract it on a computer
On Windows, right click the ZIP and choose Extract All. On a Mac, double click it. Work from the extracted folder rather than the preview window, so your edits and revisions save normally.
- Or open it on a phone
On iPhone the ZIP arrives in Files and unpacks with a tap, and on Android you open Downloads and choose Extract. Reading works perfectly well on a phone, although editing is considerably more comfortable at a desk.
- Open the Start Here file first
Every pack opens in exactly the same way. Start Here identifies what is inside, the order to work in, and the first action to take, so a few minutes there saves an hour afterward.
- What you need to open them
Word and Excel, or the free alternatives: LibreOffice on a computer, or Google Docs and Google Sheets in a browser. Any PDF reader will open the printed guides without additional software.
If something did not arrive
The email never arrived.
Search for truestephr and examine the spam and promotions folders. If it is genuinely not there, email support from any address with the name on the order and we deliver the link again.
The ZIP will not open.
Confirm that the download finished completely, then try the link again. On Windows, right click and choose Extract All rather than double clicking the file.
The link stopped working.
Links can expire after unusually heavy use, which is part of what keeps a purchased document yours. Email support with the order name and we issue a replacement immediately.
Excel opened the workbook in Protected View.
Click Enable Editing in the yellow bar across the top. That is Excel behaving cautiously with a downloaded file rather than a defect in the workbook itself.
A formula misbehaves in Google Sheets.
Upload the file to Drive first, then open it with Sheets rather than importing it. If a formula still calculates incorrectly, tell us the product name and the cell reference.
Something in the document looks wrong.
Send the product name and a description of what you were doing when it failed. The correction goes into the document itself, so every purchaser receives it rather than only you.
